Cooking on a budget? Eggs are your secret weapon to getting a healthy meal on the table for just over a buck a serving. They’re affordable, delish, and nutritious. Even better, your handy dandy Sauté Pan is large enough to double up on eggs—crack in up to 8 eggs for hungry bellies!
Topping (optional): shredded cheddar cheese
- Chop garlic, pepper (if using), and onion.
- Heat oil in Sauté Pan over medium-high heat. Add chopped garlic and veggies; stir-fry until onions are soft, about 6–8 min.
- Stir in tomatoes and sauce; bring to a simmer, about 3 min, stirring often.
- Use the back of a spoon to form 4 shallow wells in the sauce mixture. Crack an egg into each well. Reduce heat to medium-low and cover; simmer 7–8 min, or until eggs are just set.
- If desired, sprinkle cheese over shakshuka in pan. Cover; let simmer until cheese is melted, about 1 min.
Bulk up your shakshuka by adding canned chickpeas or beans in with the sauce mixture.
